Mercenary Squad 9
Chapter 7
Gabriel grunted as he yanked his wet clothes from his body dropping them with a wet “THUD” into the corner of the large tent. The small light given off by the two lanterns in the center of the dark green tent cast barely visible shadows that danced in tune as he maneuvered through the cramped quarters. “I…hate…rain.” He mumbled as he laid out on his sleeping bag that had been placed in the middle of the shelter he, Cyrus, and Tank were sharing. “You mean you hate the rain when you get wet right?” Cyrus said dryly, his hood obscuring what Gabriel knew was a smirk.

Squad 9 Is Born
Gabriel and Macha were quiet as Silas lead them away from their cell and toward the gated perimeter of the Imperial Garrison. While Gabriel marched on in silence, Macha looked over Silas as they walked along through the thick mud. Silas was definitly young, younger than Gabriel she figured, though it was hard to tell with his long black hair that hung down past his shoulders and almost to his waist. He was definitely fused with a Bat, since his leathery bat wings were furled in on his back and seemed to pulse as his veins fed blood into them and occasionally flapped open for a moment before

Making Yourself Known
Despite their best attempts to avoid confrontation, Gabriel now had a fight on his hands, and it wasn’t going to be easy. The dragon hybrid was easily 8ft tall compared to his 6ft. His arms and legs were covered in red scales, tough as any armor while Gabriel had only his silver fur. His chest was broader, his muscles were stronger, and unlike Gabriel who was calm and collected, the dragon was seething at rage from his failed attempt to intimidate the “fresh meat.” Smoke rose from his human nostrils as his eyes burned just as hot and bright as his inner fire. His red ponyt

Chapter 4: New Home?
“The camp itself is 800 yards long by 600 yards wide. It is home to more than 200 mercenaries, 250 human camp aides, and a Imperial Army Garrison belonging to the 1st Eastern Army.” Sarah said as she marched ahead of Gabriel and Macha, using her sword to identify points of interest. “To the left you’ll see the Rank 10 to 8 barracks.” “You mean those wooden long cabins?” Macha said trying to clarify.
“Yes Miss Ames, that’s where you’ll be staying until your squad has advanced past rank 8.” Gabriel looked at the cabins as Sarah continued t

Chapter 3: Castle in the Forest
Gabriel felt his stomach lurch and shake around as the truck carrying he and Macha drove deeper into the overgrown forest. He had wanted to walk, but Macha had pointed out that it was going to be a good few miles to reach Fort Silva, and she could fly while he couldn’t. So they instead had gotten a ride on a supply truck heading for the base. The soldier driving the truck at first hadn’t seemed too keen on giving them a lift, but with some kind words from Macha, followed by some death threats from Gabriel, he quickly relented and had let them ride along, or rather Macha sat up fr

Chapter 2: Changes
When a body first regains its composure after passing out, the first thing that returns is your sight, followed by your sense of smell, hearing, and then everything else follows after that. For Gabriel, the first thing he saw was a bright light shining right in his face. His eyes squinted in reflex as the world around him continued to come into focus as his eyes quickly adjusted to the light hovering over him. His nose twitched as he inhaled a breath of air, but nothing caught his attention. It smelled like a sterile hospital room and around him as he turned his head that’s exactly what it

Chapter 1: A Wolf is Born
A quarter of a second…the time it takes for a normal human to perceive something is coming toward them. Half a second…the time it takes for a normal human to perceive that something is coming at them, and to get out of the way. Gabriel could literally feel the air vibrate as his opponent’s fist went rushing past his face narrowly avoiding knockout punch. His right hand shaped into a fist, cocked back and fired into his opponent’s chest sending him reeling to the ground gasping for air from the punch. Instinct followed as Gabriel brought his right elbow down on top of his att

Prologue
The continent of Unitas is a continent whose past has been bathed in blood. For generation after generation, the three species of humans have waged war on one another intending to purge all life but their own and rule the entire continent themselves. None of them knew that the Goddess Potentia had created the very continent they stood on, as a testament to her belief in unity. For when she created the land and introduced the humans to it, she believed that the humans would unite and work together to survive. Yet it was not to be, and the humans began to bicker and argue, which soon led to war and bloodshed. Angere
